OpenCode's tool-calling for running tests is solid. It runs the test suite after changes, reads the failures, and iterates without me having to copy-paste output back in. That loop alone is worth the subscription.

Reproducible bug: OpenCode mangles multi-file edits on Gemini Pro (Gemini 3 Pro). When a single instruction touches 3+ files, about 1 in 5 times one of the edits gets applied to the wrong file. Easy to catch in review but still concerning for anyone auto-applying diffs.

Gemini Pro (Gemini 3 Pro) vs the competition for backend work — my honest take. Switched between Gemini Pro (Gemini 3 Pro) and a couple alternatives for two weeks each on the same codebase. Gemini Pro (Gemini 3 Pro) is stronger on reasoning through tricky logic, the other one edits faster but takes more shortcuts.
